Antique Silver Frame

See above an affordable Reproduction of an Antique Silver Frame or see below an expensive antique silver picture frame. The above French-style early 18th-century frame is available in any size, so you can frame any kind of painting with it.

Properties of antique silver frame

This vintage silver frame is made of ayous and tulipwood, which are perfectly combined. We use ayous for the frontal side, the one silvered, and tulipwood for the back. As tulipwood is a hard and relatively heavy wood we use it to strengthen the frame structure and obtain, at the same time, a higher rabbet height. As a result, the frame results to be very strong but with the minimum weight.  You can customize the rabbet size as you prefer. For instance, if you want to show a bigger part of the painting you can ask to reduce it.

The rabbet height can be changed, as with most of the other measurements, at the pleasure of customers. You can use this model to frame paintings with all kinds of thicknesses.

Patina (Dark finishing)

“Patina” is an Italian word that refers to the color of the frame. Specifically, it refers to how dark would be the finishing.  To be able to do an astonishing Patina is the most important skill of the framer to make seem the Reproduction frame like an original Antique Silver Frame.

Framers run the process using different types of stones. They hit along its sides creating little fake broken parts. Even wormholes are fake and made for the ultimate purpose of reproducing an old finish. If you watch closely the above picture you will be able to see them together with the smooth little rubbed surface. In conclusion, any damaged part of the silver is just a part of a bigger plane.
