Venetian Picture Frame Decorations

From the artistic point of view, Venice has always been a crossroads of various cultures. For this reason, it has been rich in innovative and avant-garde elements. Although the Venetian style is characterized by its own elements, in this model we can see strong influences of the French Rocaille style. Notice the corners: they tend to get out from the outer perimeter as French frames do. Even though the shape has a French character, contains the specific elements that inform us about its provenience. The elements are indeed the cartouches in the middle of the sides. These ornates are strictly from Venice.

The carving is handmade and you can watch a video of the carving process following this link to our Youtube Channel. https://youtu.be/fTQHIH9dRC8

Patina (Antique dark color)

“Patina” is an Italian word that refers to how dark is the frame. Apart from dark gold, the age of frames is determined by few cracks and tiny broken parts. For this reason, our gilder uses some kinds of stones to hit the frame. Also, the woodworms are fake as well, and you will be able to notice them by analyzing the pictures above.
